DOF Robotics aims to grow through a business model tailored to theexperience economy

As the chairman of the Board at DOF Robotics which is one of the world’s leading companies in the fields of robotic systems, immersive education and entertainment technologies, motion simulators, game and content development, and image analysis software, Mustafa Mertcan discussed the company’s global growth plans on Dr. Soner Gökten’s YouTube channel.

Mustafa Mertcan, the Chairman of the Board at DOF Robotics that exports to more than 60 countries across six continents and collaborates on joint projects with industry giants such as Marvel Studios, Rovio’s Angry Birds brand, Monster Jam as a part of Feld Entertainment, Universal Studios, Transformers, and The Smurfs, discussed the entertainment technology sector and outlined DOF

Mustafa Mertcan noted that the experience economy has evolved into a new-generation field where technology, content, and intellectual capital converge, stating, “We are not just a manufacturer of machines and toys. We bring together robotic systems, software, games, storytelling, and overall experience. We develop technologies that allow people to experience other worlds.”

“We’re bringing Turkish technology to the U.S., the center of the entertainment industry”
Noting that the global experience economy has reached a size of approximately $100 billion today and is expected to reach a volume of $150 billion over the next 10 years, Mertcan said, “People are now buying experiences. The impact of technology in the entertainment sector is growing every year. A wide-ranging transformation is taking place, from flying theater systems to AI-powered experience zones. We are at the center of this transformation,” he said.

Noting that the U.S. market which is home to the world’s largest amusement parks, theme parks, and experience centers is one of DOF Robotics’ most important export destinations, Mertcan said the company continues to grow in the largest markets of the experience economy, particularly the U.S. and China.

Mertcan said, “The United States is the country that shapes the world’s entertainment culture and develops theme parks and large-scale experience centers. Giants like Disney, Universal, and others form the foundation of this ecosystem. Today, we sell technology, simulators, and experiential solutions to that market. Likewise, China has become one of the fastest-growing markets for the experience economy. Today, we are a company that exports technology to both the U.S. and China. This is an important indicator of the position of Turkish technology companies within the global entertainment ecosystem,” he said.

Stating that the company is now among the main sponsors of the world’s largest entertainment trade shows, such as IAAPA, Mertcan said that DOF Robotics has been increasing its visibility and brand strength on the global stage year after year.

NeoPlanet is transitioning to a business model with Cappadocia
Mertcan noted that DOF Robotics has transitioned to a model where it not only develops and manufactures technology but also establishes and operates its own experience centers, adding that the NeoPlanet Cappadocia project is one of the most significant steps in this transformation.

Mertcan said, “Cappadocia is one of the world’s leading tourism destinations today. However, tourists no longer just want to see but they also want to experience it. We will use technology to retell Cappadocia’s story through next-generation experiences. In our project in Cappadocia, we will bring together flying theater technologies, interactive experience areas, themed shows, digital storytelling universes, and accommodation concepts all under one roof,” he said.

A new-generation growth model that combines technology, experience, and real estate
Mertcan, stating that NeoPlanet Cappadocia offers a new-generation model that combines real estate with the experience economy, said, “Today, the world’s most powerful entertainment brands don’t just produce products. They offer a holistic experience through their hotels, stores, restaurants, and narrative universes. We, too, are combining our production capabilities with a management model.
NeoPlanet Cappadocia is one of the first major steps toward this vision. In the coming period, we aim to launch similar experiential projects in different cities and tourist destinations. We plan to continue our growth through projects like these,” he said.

“The value of the new generation stems from intellectual capital”
Mertcan indicating that building a brand and narrative universe on a global scale is central to DOF Robotics’ long-term growth strategy, emphasizing that intellectual property (IP) is one of the sectors’ highest-value-added areas. Mertcan, who noted that the story universe they developed for Cappadocia which is called “Giants and Fairies” could evolve into a global brand in the future, said:
“Today, true value in the world lies in the brand, the story, and intellectual capital. Brands like Monster Jam generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue from licensed products, stories, and brand power. We aim to create strong global brands by developing our own stories and experiential universes.”
