DOF Robotics is preparing to produce humanoid robots using Turkish engineering

DOF Robotics, a company with a strong global presence in immersive entertainment technologies and AI-powered experience solutions, today announced a strategic move that will go down in Turkey’s technology history. The DOF TECH factory, planned for the Northern Marmara Special Industrial Zone, will be Turkey’s first integrated facility for service robotics and humanoid robot production.

Mustafa Mertcan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at DOF Robotics, said, “We now plan to transform the R&D expertise we have built up over the years into production on Turkish soil, through the efforts of Turkish engineers. We aim to begin the development and prototyping processes for humanoid robot projects at our DOF TECH factory and then move to mass production in line with our planned capacity increases.”

DOF Robotics, which is carrying out joint projects with giants such as Marvel Studios, Rovio’s Angry Birds brand, Monster Jam (part of Feld Entertainment), Universal Studios, Transformers, and the Smurfs, is making another strategic investment in Turkey. DOF TECH, to be established in the Northern Marmara Special Industrial Zone (KMÖEB) in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, will be Turkey’s first integrated factory for service robotics and humanoid robot production.

The Northern Marmara Special Industrial Zone (KMÖEB), where DOF TECH is planned to be established, is poised to become one of Turkey’s most critical industrial corridors thanks to its strategic location. Located 16 km from Istanbul Airport, 2 km from the Northern Marmara Highway, and 41 km from the Port of Ambarlı, the region enables the integration of air, land, and sea logistics from a single location. In addition to establishing a factory in this region, DOF Robotics is also becoming a partner in the North Marmara Special Industrial Zone cooperative. Through this strategic partnership, the company is laying the groundwork for potential growth opportunities in the same region in the coming period.

With a $25 million investment, the company plans to expand its production area from 4,000 m² to 16,000 m² through the DOF TECH project, aiming to quadruple its production capacity. With all R&D, software, automation, machining, welding, painting, assembly, electrical automation, software integration, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) conducted under one roof, the company will be able to manage all processes—from design to final testing—in-house.

“We will apply our R&D expertise to the production of humanoid robots”

Mustafa Mertcan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at DOF Robotics, stated that the company is continuing its investments with the aim of representing Turkish technology more strongly in global markets. “We do not view DOF TECH merely as a factory investment. We now aim to transform the R&D expertise we have developed over the years into production through the efforts of Turkish engineers and on Turkish soil. Today, we are embarking on this journey with our first investment of 12,000 square meters.” However, this is just the first step toward a much more comprehensive vision for growth. With the additional investments we plan to make in the coming years, we aim to transform DOF TECH into a center that develops and manufactures end-to-end
technology.

The expertise we have gained in recent years in the fields of AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), and AI-powered service robots forms the foundation of our goal to develop humanoid robots. We aim to begin the development and prototyping processes for our humanoid robot projects at this facility and then move on to mass production as we increase our capacity as planned. “We believe the day is now very close when our humanoid robots, bearing the ‘Made in Türkiye’ label, will take their place in global markets,” he said.

Growth is accelerating in the global service robot market
The global service robot market is expected to grow rapidly, reaching over $73 billion by 2028. Annual production volume is projected to exceed 60 million units by 2029. The investment in DOF TECH aims to position the company to meet this growth wave with its domestic production infrastructure.
