“Astorya,” Turkey’s first Flying Theater (flying cinema) project implemented in collaboration between DOF Robotics and Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, has opened its doors to visitors. The project, which has attracted intense interest from its first day, is bringing a new experience area to city tourism with its advanced technology and multi-sensory effects. DOF Robotics Board Chairman Mustafa Mertcan drew attention to the rapid global growth of entertainment technologies and stated that the Astorya project is one of the important examples of this vision in Turkey.
“Astorya,” Turkey’s first Flying Theater (flying cinema) project implemented by DOF Robotics which exports to more than 60 countries across 6 continents worldwide and runs joint projects with giants such as Marvel Studios, Rovio’s Angry Birds brand, Monster Jam under Feld Entertainment, Universal Studios, Transformers, and Smurfs for Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, has opened. Located within the Panorama Samsun Digital Exhibition Center in the İlkadım district, Astorya offers viewers a real flight sensation with its high-resolution dome screen, motion platform system, and structure supported by effects such as wind, scent, and water. In the experience offered in 20-minute sessions, content prepared in different themes meets visitors in two separate halls.
Astorya, brought to life with the advanced technology infrastructure developed by DOF Robotics, is positioned not only as an entertainment experience but also as a new-generation experience model that increases the city’s cultural and touristic appeal.
“We aim to make Turkey one of the strong centers of the experience economy”
Making an assessment on the matter, DOF Robotics Board Chairman Mustafa Mertcan drew attention to the fact that entertainment technologies are a rapidly growing field on a global scale and said the following:
“The entertainment technologies sector, which has reached a size of over $100 billion today, is becoming a strategic area for cities and countries with the rise of the experience economy. The Astorya project we brought to life in Samsun has become one of the important examples of this vision in Turkey.
As DOF Robotics, we operate as a structure that designs experiences in addition to producing technology. In the coming period, we aim to bring the Flying Theater concept to life in different cities such as Istanbul and Antalya, especially NeoCappadocia, which we developed in Cappadocia. While we are targeting $600 million in revenue over the next 10 years with our operations projects, we aim to expand this experience on an international scale with our Neo Planet brand we have developed. Our goal is to make Turkey one of the strong centers of technology and innovation tourism.”
